How to test if your Twitter bot is working

by admin posted Nov 2 2015, 9:14

You can manually test your bot using the "Check Status" button from the Twitter page from your bot's "Admin Console".

First go to the "Log" page and set logging to "FINE" then click on "Check Status" from the "Twitter" page, and go back to the "Log" page to see what occurred.

You can also add an "Auto Tweet" to verify your bot can tweet to your account. You can enter -1 in the "Auto Tweet Hours" field to force it to auto tweets every time it runs.

Note that Twitter may reject tweets if it thinks they are duplicates or spam, or if your account has exceeded it API usage quota.

Is there any way to make it so that I don't need to click "Check Status" every time so it can respond to a person? I want it to automatically respond to a person after they mention them instead of having to click "Check Status" every single time.

Twitter bots will automatically respond to mentions and messages every time they check their status. How often the bots check their status depends on your account and server.

On www.botlibre.com, basic accounts will only check their status once per day. You can upgrade your account to Gold or Platinum to check every hour, or 20 minutes.

We also have a dedicated Twitter, Facebook, and email server that runs Twitter bots continuously.

Each cycle takes an hour or so. You can also upgrade your account to Bronze or Gold to check every 30 minutes, or 10 minutes.
